"An Anarchist FAQ" is an indepth introduction to anarchist ideas, ideals and history. It explains why anarchism is anti-hierarchy, anti-state, anti-capitalist. It discusses why anarchists oppose the current system, how we plan to change it and what kind of society we want. It also explains why libertarian socialism is the only form of socialism that will work and how Marxists distort anarchist ideas and history. "An Anarchist FAQ" can be found at: www.anarchistfaq.org www.anarchismfaq.org www.anarchyfaq.org www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/1931/ (the last webpage is the old "main" site. If you link to that, could you please change it to www.anarchistfaq.org Thanks!) "An Anarchist FAQ" links page has also been updated. With over 700 links to anarchist webpages, organisations, books, publishers and much more, it is one of the best places to find out about the on-line anarchist community. "An Anarchist FAQ" links page can be found at: www.infoshop.org/faq/links.html www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/1931/links.html ----------------------------------------------- So What's New in the FAQ? Version 9.10 09-JAN-04 Section H.9 www.infoshop.org/faq/secH9.html www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/1931/secH9.html New section on how Marxist and Leninist ideology helped cause the degeneration of the Russian Revolution. Why only rejecting the centralised, state capitalist Bolshevik vision can lead to real socialism. Section H.10 www.infoshop.org/faq/secH10.html www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/1931/secH10.html New section on the better know oppositions within Bolshevism: The "Left Communists" of 1918, the "Workers' Opposition" of 1920/1 and the "Left Opposition" of 1923-7. Explains why they were not real oppositions and what that says about the essence of Leninism. Talks about the little know "Workers' Group" (a real opposition as it argued for workers political and economic freedom) and what its repression by Lenin and Trotsky says about the essence of Bolshevism. -------------------------------------------------- FAQ News The next release of the FAQ will be version 10. This will involve finishing all the planned sections of the FAQ (namely what is currently section H.4, which is on the Russian revolution). In addition to this, section H will be substantially re-organised with many sections re-numbered and some material moved between sections. If you link to any of the sub-sections in section H, please keep an eye-out and update your links once version 10 is released (hopefully in a few months). After that, the FAQ will be revised and updated with new developments. In the longer term, section H will be edited down to a more appropriate size (and excess material placed in an appendix). Finally, AK Press in the UK is in the process of producing the FAQ in book format. Volume one of a two volume set is being worked on just now. This will include sections A, B, C, D, E, I and J (appropriately relabeled). There is not a definite date of publication, but hopefully news will be forthcoming this year! So 2004 should be a busy time for the FAQ, what with being completed a mere 10 years or so after being started!
