Keri says that is a slur on her native city. Her mother and her father
live in South San Francisco, and she talks to them on the phone
virtually every night, and while it is true that it is often foggy,
it is also true that they were getting sunburnt while we
still had winter in these parts.

But while neither Santa Cruz nor SF are entirely "without racism",
both have folks from many different ethnic backgrounds, and for
that reason alone there may be less racism there than there is
here (or in Erik's Belchum, for that matter).

Well, that is one kind of bad weather we  DON'T  get here !

Keri's mother has been diagnosed with lung cancer. Her dad
is (so far) a survivor of throat cancer. Apart from being tired of
the dubious attractions of Dundee, that is what has prompted
this desire to return to California. One good thing is that
Keri has now decided she really  MUST  quit smoking.
