Keri has just said to me "Be nice in responding to Goat, you never know, we might want to go to Nebraska one of these days". To which I replied "I can't imagine any possible circumstances in which I would ever want to go to Nebraska, in this or any other lifetime". I'm not trying to sell you anything, Goat. Since you have nothing to offer in exchange, there can be no sale. Nor did I try to convince you of any opinion. All I did was to state a fact. Jeremy referred to "the British magazine Beano". I said "The Beano is in fact Scottish. It is published in Dundee by D.C. Thompson and Co." That is a fact. I realise this may be difficult for you to understand, since, like everybody who lives in the USA, you are a Yank, you are a one hundred percent American, but over here many folk think of themselves as having a dual identity. A majority of the folk in Scotland consider themselves Scottish first and foremost, but also, secondarily, British. Now, as it happens, I belong to the large minority of the population who consider themselves Scottish and not British. But there was nothing in what I wrote to Jeremy which implied that I held this opinion. I just stated a fact, that the Beano is a Scottish magazine published in Dundee. That is true _whether or not_ I, or anybody else, accepts some sort of dual identity. Dave C
