Scotland ?

We have our religious zealots, but I don't think their
power is on the increase. We are ruled by Tony Blair,
but he is increasingly unpopular with most of the population.
The great majority of the population are opposed
to the war in Iraq. The far right groupings suffer from
the handicap that they are  _British_  nationalists,
not Scottish ones. The Scottish National Party is strongly
in favour of multiculturalism and increasing immigration,
as is the Scottish Socialist Party. Even the ruling Labour
executive in Scotland has disagreed, to some extent,
with the more restrictive policies of Tony Blair & co,
stressing that Scotland needs more immigrants.
I don't want to exaggerate, I don't want to give
the false impression that everything is wonderful
when it isn't, and of course it is always possible
that things could get worse, but, at present,
I would say that Scotland looks like
a place where the Right is not winning.
