On the contrary, postings like this are very useful for those of us in
these places (in this case, Vancouver). If someone here or elsewhere hears
of an action near me, I always appreciate the info. If not for Chris'
post, many aut-op-sy subscribers here - and there are a few of us - would
have been totally unaware of this event. Communication between people in
the same geographical area is often poor, limited by political connections
etc. Sometimes it takes global email networks to get this info to the
people involved. Those not in the vancouver area can either use the info.
to learn what we're up to here, or can delete it as irrelevant. But for
those of us nearby, it can be a big help. 
On that note, others in the Vancouver area might like to keep in mind that
Margaret Thatcher is speaking here in a few weeks - Feb 4th?. We may want
to throw together some kind of "welcome" for her.
