The demonstration was organised by participants in the Amsterdam movement and others who could not attend. About 20 people (from London & Brighton) demonstrated, with a banner saying "Free the Euro Protestors, EU rot op!" and with a leaflet giving a report of the Amsterdam events. (I hope to be able to mail a copy of the leaflet soon and also put it up on the web site below.) The embassey was breifly occupied, but was evicted by armed police (something of a compliment in the UK). A criticism. Is it not the case that the AUT-OP-SY list is somewhat fetishizing the struggle of the Italian comrades in particular, just as the struggle of the Zapatistas and the Liverpool dockers has been also fetishized? There was a lot of other positive stuff going on in Amsterdam, a lot of practical internationalism (anti-nationalism), a lot of direct links made which will continue to exist. -- web: http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill//Lobby/3909/ email: mrnobody-AT-geocities.com post: BM Makhno, London WC1N 3XX, UK --- from list aut-op-sy-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
