I don't believe this dispute has ever been about Alewitz's sketches or
ideas for the mural. Rather it has been about the right of the IWW top
participate in the commemoration of our history, and the organizers'
repeated and deliberate misrepresentations of our organization and
denial of democratic rights. Now they have threatened to have IWW
members arrested if they attend meetings (though no democratic vote of
the committee was taken to authorize this). Meanwhile, ALewitz has
weighed in on the controversy with an open letter distributed over the
net and elsewhere which contains outright falsehoods and slanders
against our organization. If he does not publicly retract this
document and its allegations, I will personally bring him up on charges
and demand his expulsion from the organization.
