GUSTAFSEN LAKE, OKA INDIANS COULD TAKE "DIEFENBUNKER" SAYS REFORM MP

Settlers In Support of Indigenous Sovereignty (S.I.S.I.S.) - Bulletin
August 28, 1997

Quoted from CBC Newsworld Morning News, Friday, August 15, 6 am
Host: Carole MacNeil

Announcer: "The Hell's Angels are thinking of moving into a small town in
Alberta. They've got their eyes on a former military bunker there called
the Diefenbunker, and the possibility that the Hell's Angels might buy it
has the local Member of Parliament up in arms".

Newsworld reporter Terry Reith: "...Even the spectre of seeing the bunker
fall into criminal hands worries [Red Deer, Alberta] Reform MP Bob Mills,
who talks of standoffs at Oka, Gustafsen Lake and Waco".

Mills: "It was so difficult and so expensive to get those people out of
their bunkers when they were on the surface. Can you imagine having them in
a secure facility that was geared for atomic bombs."

Reith: "He's fired off a letter to the Solicitor General urging him to buy the
bunker back, and either put it to use or destroy it, ensuring it's never
used to shield criminal conduct".
