In response to Laura's comments on the findings of racism. Yes, a rapid
change of color in one's parents would no doubt be scary, but the list of
things kids said in response to "black" rather thoroughly replicated the
ideology of actual racism in the US (e.g., the notion of black as dirty and
Africans as stupid). That is, unfortunately, the kids appear to have adopted
the ideology of "racial" inferiority of blacks. I suspect if the kids were
asked what they would do if their parents turned green, they'd talk about
consulting doctors, not about the things they did raise. Believing too much
in polls is dangerous; but  this seems unfortunately congruent with a  wide
variety of evidence about racism in Italy.
