Demonstrators in the Dominican Republic are piling up barricades of
burning tires. They're protesting the sixth day of power failures.
Hundreds of riot police are at the scene armed with semi-automatic guns
and hurling tear gas at the crowd. Power outages have become a common
occurrence in the country - sometimes lasting 20 hours.
The government blames the outages on this year's drought which has caused
low production at hydroelectric dams.
