Subject: AUT: Hillingdon demo & occupation

Wednesday 1st October marked the 2nd anniversary
of the Hillingdon Hospital workers strike. A
demonstration was held in Hillingdon, west of
London UK, attended by about 300 people. This was
a fairly standard trade union style march/rally.

Later, some of us travelled back to London and
carried an occupation of the Labour Party offices
at Walworth Rd. (The Labour Party are currently
the ruling party in the UK. They are this week
holding their annual conference in Brighton.) We
displayed a banner from the roof and leaflets were
distributed to passers by. Those participating are
more-or-less involved with 'Reclaim the Streets' a
radical urban group concentrating originally on
car culture but with increasingly broader
horizons. Our aim was not to pressurize the Labour
Party, but to highlight its anti-working class
policies, and our own oppostion.
