From: "Karl Carlile" <dagda-AT-eircom.net> Subject: AUT: The ECB and interest rates Date: Fri, 20 Apr 2001 12:29:34 +0100 One of the chief reasons as to why the European Central Bank are reluctant to reduce interest rates is because they want to keep inflation down. They want to keep interest rates up and inflation down as a means of shaking weaker forms of European capital out of its economy. Consequently European capital will be stronger leaner and meaner. This means its position will be stronger in the globalised economy where competition is fierce. Many individual capitalists don't like this because it may threaten their own weaker capital. -- Regards Karl Carlile Visit our Communist Think-Tank Web Site at: http://homepage.eircom.net/~beprepared/ Join our Communist Think-Tank Mailing Community at: mailto:rev-commies-subscribe-AT-eGroups.com --- from list aut-op-sy-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
