*Plusieurs militant-e-s anarchistes en taule sous des
accusations graves

Québec, 21 avril 2001 - Le Carnaval de résistance au
capitalisme continue de battre son plein à Québec.
Hier, au moins 10 000 personnes ont manifestés et se
sont confrontés à la police d'une façon ou d'une autre
(non-violente ou pas), tandis que des milliers de
personnes participaient à des zones libres absolument
pacifiques. Les affrontements ont duré jusqu'à 4h du
matin, menant à une centaine d'arrestations.
Aujourd'hui, plusieurs dizaines de milliers de
personnes ont participés à la grande marche unitaire
des syndicats (60 000 selon les organisateurs) et
plusieurs milliers de personnes ont quitté la marche
avant la fin pour aller au front (plus de 15 000,
incluant de nombreux syndicalistes). Plusieurs brèches
furent effectuées dans la clôture et les affrontement
sont pas mal violent. Au moment d'écrire ces lignes
(19h), la police annonçait 145 arrestations au total
pour les deux jours. La plupart des accusations vont
de participation à une émeute à attroupement illégal
et entrave au travail des policiers.

Le cas des anarchistes

Les 7 présumés membres du groupe Germinal, ceux qui
ont été arrêtés plus tôt cette semaine, comparaîtront
pour la deuxième fois par vidéo, lundi matin. La
plupart font face à de nombreuses accusations grave
allant de " complot pour commettre un méfait pouvant
mettre en danger la vie humaine " à " recel de
matériel militaire " en passant par " vol ".

Un camarade d'Émile-Henry (NEFAC) passera en cour
mercredi et est accusé de " complot " pour commettre
un " méfait " (finalement la deuxième personne qui
était avec lui a été relâché, sans accusations). Ce
camarade passera en cour mercredi matin. Nous nous
doutons d'une sévère infiltration policière (à tous le
moins d'une sérieuse investigation) puisque les noms
de certains membres du Maquis et d'Émile-Henry sont
ressortit dans des rapports policiers avec leurs
affiliations politiques et un rapport assez détaillés
de leurs présumées intentions d'actions. D'autres
camarades nommés mais pas arrêtés sont sur les dents
(on le serait à moins).

Pour ce qui est de Jaggi Singh, militant anarchiste de
la CLAC, qui a littéralement été enlevé en pleine rue
par un commando policier (voir le site
montreal.indymedia.org pour des photos), il est
actuellement accusé de " participation à une émeute ",
de " possession d'armes " (une catapulte à toutou en
peluche!!) et de " bris de conditions ". Il repasse en
cour mercredi.

Nous vous demandons de garder la pression et de
commencer à organiser des piquetages.

*many anarchists activists in jail with serious
charges

Quebec, April 21 2001 - The Carnival of Resistance
Against Capitalism continues to rock on in Quebec
City. Yesterday, at least 10,000 people demonstrated
and got into confrontations with the police one way or
another (violent or not), while thousands of people
were taking part in free zones that were absolutely
peaceful. The confrontations lasted till 4 am, leading
to 100 arrests. Today, several dozen thousand people
took part in the unity union march (60,000 according
to the organisers) and several thousand left the march
before it was over to head up to the fence (more than
15,000, including many unionists). Many parts of the
fence were torn down and confrontations were pretty
violent. At the time of writing this (7 pm) the police
have announced at least 145 arrests total for the two
days. Most of those arrested face charges of
participating in a riot, illegal gathering and
obstructing police work. 

The case of the anarchists

The seven presumed members of the group Germinal,
those that where arrested earlier this week, will be
in court Monday morning (by video, they won't be
there). Most of them face serious charges like
"conspiracy to commit mischief that could endanger
life". 

A comrade from Emile-Henry (NEFAC) will be in court
Wednesday and is accused of "conspiracy" to commit
"mischief. " (Eventually, the second person who was
with him was released without charges). We think there
was a heavy police infiltration (or at least a serious
long term investigation) since the names of some
members of Le Maquis and Emile-Henry appeared in
police reports with their political affiliation (name
of the group to which they belonged) and a detailed
report of the actions they allegedly intended to
commit. Other comrades named in the report but not
arrested yet are under heavy pressure.

As for Jaggi Singh, an anarchist activist of the CLAC,
who was literally kidnapped in the street by a police
commando (see montreal.indymedia.org for pictures), he
is now accused of "participating in a riot",
"possession of an illegal weapon" (a teddy bear
catapult!!) and "breach of conditions ". He will be in
court Wednesday. 

We ask you to keep the pressure and start to organise
pickets...
