It seems to me there is always the possibility that Russia ultimately would
like to join NATO and that it may suit the US if Russia were to eventually
join NATO. Under NATO the US in particular would be able to regulate and
even control Russian developments in its own interests --diplomatically,
politically, commercially and economically. After all this is one of the
principle reasons why these East European states are being brought into
NATO. It is one the forms by which they Washington and the West European
bourgeoisie seek to colonise them. The EU forms, in many ways part of the
same imperialist project.
