and please do write in Italian, and French and Spanish etc I can pick out a
few things from my imperfect knowledge of Spanish. It is good for exercising
the linguistic muscles and maybe you can help us out when we need to read
Italian and French texts.
I'll have a few coming up eventually, when I get back to my dissertation
(after I jump thru all the hoops I need to to make a living)
Anyone on this list know Arabic? I am picking my way thru Tayyib Salih's
Season of Migration to the North (Mawsim al-hijrah ila al-Shamal) right now,
when not on this list and not working on my teaching credential and 'staff
development crap' (they just did a bait and switch with us, promised that if
we signed up for the "Govner's Institute" we'd get $500 for 40 hrs of
'training' - listening to all the shit they want us to do in the classroom.
and then we'd have to do an extra 80 hrs of work during the school year and
we'd get another $500. Now that I've registered I learn that I will have to
do the 40 + 80 hrs just to get the $500 bucks, which I may see btwn October
and December. $500/$120 = that works out to about $4/hr. And the LA Times is
still screaming about how overpaid teachers are - kus emma shelahem! )

Anyway I'd like to read more multilingual e-mails, even curses - and there
was one for the LA Times in working class Israeli Arabized Hebrew.
