I agree that random violence is of no use at this
point in the movement.  However, it would be naive to
think that the other side is going to play fair.  They
will plant bombs, etc in order to blame the
protesters.  They will attack the protesters and then
if someone fights back, they will claim the protesters
started it.

I definitely think protesters should defend themselves
and arm themselves as best they can.  If they get
attacked they should inflict pain on as many "pigs" as
possible.
