I will be forwarding a report and analysis from Belgrade on the attack on the Gay Pride march. It must be made clear that it was not "misfortune" but a premeditated attack, and that the police were tardy in their response, to say the least. I feel the problem with this debate on self-defence is that in Serbia the queer community is outnumbered and outgunned. Physically fighting the fascists may not be viable, whether it is a "right" or self-defence. Other methods have to be found. This can mean creating safe spaces, encouraging people to come out, etc. To respond collectively, there has to be a collective, a commonality.
