Subject: AUT: a Ya Basta member on Quebec (including comments on black bloc)/IMC raid

As a number of list members have said, we need to avoid making blanket
statements when trying to learn from recent events.

I'm not sure how many others have seen this (largely positive)
assessment of relations between black bloc members and others in Quebec,
written by a prominent member of Ya Basta (Beppe Caccia again):

http://www.wumingfoundation.com/english/giap/giapdigest10.html

It may be useful to read, given arguments around tactics and the
relations between different 'contingents' in Genoa.

There is a longer version of Beppe's piece, posted to the Australian L&R
list, which contains further discussion on decision making within the
Italian movement (or at least Ya Basta's part of it) and the Quebec
experience - I haven't found it on the WWW though.

Has anyone come across any 'formal' statement of substance yet from the
various parts of the Italian and wider European movement? I haven't had
any success looking on the WWW for them either. And I can't get through
to any radio stations like Sherwood or Onda d'urto.

Amongst other things, I haven't yet found anything further about the
alleged attack by 'people in black' on Piero Bernocchi of the COBAS -
could this 'story' be a beatup? Indeed, it is difficult to find
*anything* about the COBAS and alternative unions at Genoa, although
they had organised a strike and march on Friday.

Finally, how is the attack on people in the IMC space being reported
elsewhere? You can find the Australian state media report at

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2001/07/item20010722123156_1.htm

- there are some references to police violence, but it is mixed well
down . . .
