hi all

replying to Macdonald again sorry:
>(With the exception of the >SPS, there is no government that has been
>recently bombed/militarily attacked >that I really care to defend.

obviously if i'd read this message carefully before replying to this last
one i'd have realised that you are a supporter of Slobo. one does not have
to be a supporter of the former Yugoslav regime to have opposed the bombing.
a cruise missile hit a civilian target a few hundred metres from my aunt's
home in Belgrade so i'm hardly a supporter of the bombing. NB my opposition
to the bombing is not just because i had relatives at risk. i oppose in
principle military assaults by any state. revolutionaries shouldn't take
sides in capitalist wars they should make sides in the class war.

>*** Most of these countries have slaughtered communists in thousands. >My
>problem is with Leninists, not Lenin.

Lenin slaughtered his share of communists too.

>I see Fidel as the current "leader" >with such a vision. He speaks very
>highly of "our" movement against >globalisation (using the very term
>constantly).

the movement against 'globalisation' would do well to avoid the embrace of a
statist thug such as Fidel who also slaughtered his share of anarchists and
communists.

>Tahir, this is not aimed at you but a large series of people in general:
>I'm >really fucking tired of hearing people call others Saddam (or insert
>here) >lovers for defending Iraq and her people from American bombs. Saying
>that Iraq >successfully engaging in military defense would be a good thing
>is quite >different than calling Hussein the father of all the people.

the reason Iraq was defeated so quickly was because the Iraqi proletarians
in uniform refused en masse to die for 'their' country and instead took
their guns home from the front and launched a powerful insurrection. to say
that Iraq succesfully engaging in military defense would have been a good
thing means that the mass execution of Iraqi deserters would have been a
good thing, for that is what would have been required for Iraq to win the
war.
