because you have to, in some sense, accept the legitamacy of the rule of
those you elect. that is: you accept their mediation, hoping it will come
out for the best. this is the opposite of class self-activity and
self-organization.

in addition, it usually must mean that you are blind to the fact that no
matter who's in office, the state functions as the "general council of the
ruling class"... that is: reforms would not be made unless they were somehow
seem to be in the best interest of the ruling class as a whole.
