Also, though, not all drug sale networks have poor urban areas are points of distribution. I think it depends a lot on the drugs. Methamphetamine can be made in basement or mobile laboratories with legal ingredients, which means production and distribution can occur in basically any place. other drugs, particularly those that are more plant derived have different requirements for production which influences distribution possibilities. does anyone know if any marxist work on the drug trade has been done (of more in depth than the 'product of and coping mechanism for capitalist alienation' variety, ie, that analyzes production and distribution consumption patterns)? I read some speech by Chomsky once about the role of illegally derived/drug derived moneys in the legal banking industry that was quite interesting but I can remember the specific details, I think the argument was that drug laws kept prices higher and legitimized a repressive state apparatus and that this also benefited 'legitimate' banks via the transfer of illegally derived funds into legal holdings. >From: Carrol Cox <cbcox-AT-ilstu.edu> >Reply-To: aut-op-sy-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu >To: aut-op-sy-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu >Subject: Re: (Fwd) Re: AUT: a new thread >Date: Mon, 18 Mar 2002 16:36:57 -0600 > > > >Nate Holdren wrote: > > > > > > > > Interestingly, though, I heard a report on the radio a while back about > > heroin use by suburban white teenagers.
