How possible is it? > hey everyone, > Sorry it's taking me so long to respond about my organizing drive. Every spare moment is spent in the trenches - my very patient partner Eric will attest to that! Anyway the story is we are affiliating to CWA Local 1034. We wanted to go independent but the problem is my co-workers get paid so little money that if we are fired we need some financial support. We found a local union that is giving the organizing committee full autonomy. So that's the compromise we made. I feel kinda awful about it but I had to address the reality of our lives that we can't survive if we are fired. No one seems to have blind faith in the union, we are definately doing this by oursleves. The union has maintained a really back seat role. We are hoping to get the broad community involved in the next week or two when we come forward with racial discrimination claims. > > We sent the Board a letter asking for neutrality and card check and telling them as long as the incredible hostile atmosphere continues we cannot work with them. They ignored our letter. So that's pretty much telling us to go to hell. On one hand that's good because we don't get into compromising with the board and on the other hand it sucks because my co-workers realize that the Board doesn't care about them at all. > > I'll keep you informed. Once again I really appreciate all your thoughts and suggestions. > > Comradely, > Jeannette > > ------------------------ Yahoo!
