Subject: AUT: academia revisited

Hi all,
just want to say i thought this was an interesting
topic i was surprised Nate was really the only one who
responded to my comments b/c it seems like there are a
number of ppl on the list tied into universities.
Anyway maybe there was some truth to Tahir's response
i thought his comments were framed in a way that was
entirely unconstructive that's why i lashed out at him
(sorry for calling you a twit by the way Tahir but
please try to be constructive instead of insulting in
the future)...

but when i said i thought the debate was coming to an
end i said this b/c my position on universities and is
really unclear, and i didn't think i was really
developing it further in my responses, just confusing
nate and others who were reading the exchange
probably... so i definetly need to put a lot more
thought into my position on universities (especially
the fact my analysis i'm now thinking is only
appropriate for the U.S. and maybe Western Europe),
but my initial gut feeling that no academic department
is radical simply by way of being tied into an
academic institution i still stand by at least for the
U.S. and probably Western Europe... i think this would
probably be different in a revolutionary society (if
there would even be universities at all) but this is
nonetheless the case at this time...

anyway considering i have 170 messages in my inbox
i've got to sign off the list temporarily, but i'm
sure i'll be back on shortly,
love and rage,
-Sean
