Here's a rough and ready translation of what Laura wrote from Cosenza:

Steve, I don't have a lot of time, we've just come back from a city-wide
assembly against the arrests, and it's almost midnight. As soon as I
have time I will bring you up to date. Two of those arrested are friends
who work in my department (of sociology), and whom I therefore know
well: the accusations are senseless. The charge is subversive
association, without a scrap of evidence produced in terms of specific
facts. In other words, their crime is one of opinions, including having
constituted a virtual network - via the internet - to subvert the
economic order of the state.

It'd be madness, if the consequences for the arrested comrades weren't
so serious!! However, the whole city and the movement in Italy are
responding with a lot of determination.
