Subject: AUT: voting ... A Reply to Noam Chomsky


I find this debate on whether or not voting is useful
or actually counterproductive a little surreal in the
present context.  Increasingly, even the veneer of
liberal representative democracy is being washed away.
 This is especially the case in the US where it is
unlikely that the results of next election will bear
any systematic ressemblance to the voting decisions of
even the minority who do attempt to cast ballots.  If
the government is attempting to take away your 'right
to vote' (such as it is), is abstention really much of
a statement?
