Subject: AUT: material on linking resurgence of social darwinism with neo-liberalism....

Does anyone know any material that links the return of
"social darwinist" explainations of human behavior
(e.g. Bell Curve, Instinct theory, socio-biology etc.)
with the changing material condition (i.e. the shift
towards neo-liberalism)

Erich Fromm (in Anatomy of Human Destructiveness) does
link the the popularity of Konrad Lorenz (instinct
theory) with the changing material conditions, but I'm
looking for something a bit more recent (Fromm's book
was written in 1973)

===="Economic freedom would mean freedom from the economy - from being controlled by economic forces and relationships; freedom from the daily struggle for existence, from earning a living. Political freedom would mean liberation of the individuals from politics over which they have no control. Similarly, intellectual freedom would mean the restoration of individual thought now absorbed by mass communication and indoctrination, abolition of "public opinion" together with its makers." Herbert Marcuse
