From: "dave graham" <davgraham-AT-hotmail.com> Subject: AUT: Logistics Study - Preface Date: Mon, 19 Apr 2004 19:53:09 +0000 Two documents will follow - one in this message and the second in a later message. It should be self-explanatory and replies can be sent to me or to t.ashton-AT-merseymail.com _____________________________________________________________________________ The document that follows on from this preface is an appeal for help in setting up an inquiry in to the logistics industry. Our interest in logistics stems from our work with the Liverpool Dockers during their long and bitter struggle. We became aware that major changes had and were taking place in the world of logistics, or, as we then saw it, the world of transport. Change is a constant in the industry and much of it is detrimental to those who work in logistics. It is our opinion that since the end of the seventies there has been a retreat from the <factory gates>, from active engagement with the class at the sharp end. We feel it is only from the dialectic produced by such engagement that useful theory will flow. Of course, we do realise that such work is by no means easily carried out, and in the logistics industry the factory gate can go hurtling by at 80 miles per hour. If there is to be what we autonomists call recomposition of the class then such work is a class imperative. Your views on the above may differ from ours but we hope that that will not stop you from working with us. We intend to approach this project in a non-sectarian way. After all, none of us have all the answers. _________________________________________________________________ Find a cheaper internet access deal - choose one to suit you. http://www.msn.co.uk/internetaccess --- from list aut-op-sy-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
