From: "FoofighterPilot" <cwright-AT-megapathdsl.net> Subject: AUT: CLR James and Melville Date: Wed, 4 Aug 2004 21:22:27 -0400 Tom, Thought this might be of interest to you. A comment an acquaintance made, with Melville in mind. James's entire world view was still predicated on an impassable boundary between intellectuals and ordinary people, and that people who violated that boundary, like James's friend Richard Wright, threw a monkey wrench into James's entire modus operandi. This is one original component of my analysis of James's work on Melville, which I might add, has no precedent.
