He's got this incredibly schmaltzy air about him - he will talk about amor y
caridad for fifteen minutes and occasionally refers to el pueblito. Then he
turns to the defense of the revolution. He's got a national TV spot in
Venezuela where occasionally he breaks into song. He talks endlessly.

I think he's the real deal with all this nutty and to my middle class
Brazilian ears, awful, personna. People really love him, and I'll hand it to
him - he is not a boring technocrat. He is not Ricardo Lagos, thank a
million fucks. But he's not a revolutionary either. I'd say that he is a
kind of pan-Latin, or properly speaking Bolivarian, nationalist. A sort of
Cielito Lindo version of Nasser. Que bueno!
