I'm better placed to do this, geographically (and in the absence of an
email address that's all there is), and had made a halfhearted effort to
get clearance through the Variant editor last spring, so I volunteer to
send the author a letter c/o his work address.  Who knows, he may even
have it on disk?

It's odd: I don't agree with copyright but I make this a relative position
where other people are concerned (a position influenced most by listening
to Son House asking for $1.50 from the record company guy who was about to
record him at the roadside).

Another text which could be useful in questioning avant-gardism is the
Neoist Alliance leaflet against Rachel Whiteread's "House".  Although they
described it to me and I've got multiple copies of many of their other
leaflets, that's the one I've never actually seen.  Maybe I'll try again.
Or has anyone got a copy?

These could be useful in resuming the April discussion on the nature of
avant-gardes.  There were some interesting implications which I'd intended
to come back on, but just then came a combination of life-hassles here and
the list discussion suddenly drying up, sothe spark was lost...
