Date: Tue, 21 Nov 95 15:31:10 +0100 (MET) From: cantsin-AT-zedat.fu-berlin.de Subject: Too much noise on avant-garde listserver Fellow subscribers, let me apologize for aporetically fulfilling the subject line, but without wanting to sound narrow-minded or 'single-disciplinary', it greatly botheres me to daily find my mailbox cluttered with threads which are far off this forum's topic and seem rather appropriate for Usenet groups (especially those aphoristic "me too" replies). When posting to this listserver, one should aware of the net traffic to follow. Listservers are meant for more elaborate contributions than newsgroups postings. I definitely prefer this group to be rather inactive, but spread interesting information from time to time. There have been many good postings here, but I am somewhat sick of wading through an ever-growing lot of noise which, for example, decreases my motivation to finish a translation of ex-Spur-member Frank Boeckelmann's article on the Situationist International for this group. If we would turn it into "alt.avant-garde", one could at least define a kill-filter for the utterances of Herrn Recktenwald et.al.
