The permanent opposition ultimately comes to have an invested interest in the existing order of things. Personally, I think evolution has more of a chance than revolution. I mean once you've got Revlon hawking "Revolutionary makeup for revolutionary women", well, the word is dead. Now it might make sense if the makeup style they were selling was caking your face full of that black gunk that soldiers put on out in the field. But of course, it's just the same ole, same ole: Ruby up the lips and scary up the eyes. Not that I'm against makeup, mind you. I just don't think lipstick should be applied on the mouth. By the way, my favorite political action occurred in India a few years ago. I wish I could remember the details better, (I can't even remember what they were protesting) but 20,000 Indians surrounded the capital of one of the Indian states and laughed for two hours.
