Verne's an interesting case, quite apart from the enclosure question.
He has a rather gadget-ist reputation (submarines, airships, etc),
although works such as "20000 Leagues Under The Sea" seem to critique
power, including power exercised for utopian ends.  

I believe one of his lesser known (and I think un-Englished) novels is
based on the Paris Commune, from a pro-Communard perspective.  Perhaps
someone has more info. about this (e.g. if that novel is in print in
French or even German)?
