The institutional vanguard is very unaccustomed to hearing criticism of
itself -- there are various "mechanisms" that ensure that the acolytes
need never question their increasingly reactionary, "virtuous" and insular
power structures. Ironically, it's this very resistance to self-criticism,
expansive strategies and methods, that ensures that the vanguard will not
be even begin to be effective -- except as some backward, corrupt,
*obstruction* to new social dimension. Cutting their institutional
funding, abolishing tenure, open (sunshine-law) hiring, administrative
salary reviews, publication and acquisition procedures, or dismissing
inept "teaching as praxis positions" would be effective, but with your
intimately superior knowledge, I'm sure that you'll be able to point-out
other methods and clues... assuming that you really _do_ want reform.
