a project by Dmitry Bulatov, contemporary Russian poet and
artist, "A POINT OF VIEW. VISUAL POETRY: THE 90s." The exhibition of works
by artists from all over the world will take place on the first floor of
Robarts Library in the University of Toronto from January 2 to January 19,
with the official opening on Thursday, January 7 at 5:00 p.m.

Mr. Bulatov will also present the anthology "A POINT OF VIEW. VISUAL
POETRY: THE 90s" (Chief editor - Dmitry Bulatov, Simplisii, Kaliningrad,
1998 - 592 p., 546 ill). This anthology, containing such amount and
range of information, is published in Russia for the first time. It is
dedicated to the marginal spheres of contemporary poetry. Besides the
works characterizing the contemporary state of international experimental
and poetic process, the book includes the articles on the history and
theory of non-conventional literature. The works are created by
representatives of concrete and minimal, sonor and action, object,
tactile, and vacuum trends of contemporary poetry. These works may help to
the reader (spectator) to determine the existing POINT OF VIEW on the
problem of VISUALITY in literature. They are also an evidence of creative
activity of famous poets, that may inform the reader (spectator) about
various poetic schools of the world, Fluxus of the 60-70s, PostFluxus and
Mail art of the 70-80s, International Network Culture of the 80-90s.

Mr.Bulatov will also speak on "Contemporary Visual Poetry: Problems of
Genre" on Thursday, January 14 at 4:00 p.m. in the Common Room, 21 Sussex
Avenue, Rm.204, Slavic Languages and Literatures Department, University of
Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. At the opening of the exhibition
and after the lectures, the anthology will be on sale; it can also be
purchased by e-mail order (itigount-AT-chass.utoronto.ca). There will be
other lectures by Mr.Bulatov on experimental art and literature, time and
place to be announced.
