Sake & Olives
Two  Exhibition by NYU Graduate Students
At:
E.S. Vandam Gallery

New York, NY 10013

The Student Art Organization at New York University is pleased to announce
its first independently juried Graduate Student Art Shows. The event
is composed of two separate exhibitions featuring selected students of the
MA and MFA programs of NYUs Department of Art and Art Professions.  The
first show is entitled Sake, it will open on April 9, 1999 from 6:00 PM to
8:00 PM and will run until April 30. The second, entitled Olives, will
open on May 8, 1999 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will run until May 29.

The exhibitions will include the works of: Julie Baranes, Laura Bethune,
Gaudencio Fidelis, Claudia Joskowicz, Jose Krapp, Lin-i Liu, Byoung-dong
Sohn, Matthew Swift, Michael Waugh, Luciana Betesh, John Landewe,
Lien-Chen Lin, Sam Pollach, Kimberly Sexton, Mark Taylor, Laura Teneycke,
and JoJo Whilden.

The two exhibitions are curated along narrative  and structural
issues respectively; melding sculpture, installation, drawing, video and
photography.  Terrence Morash, Kate Goggin, and Juliette Cook, all
graduate students in the Visual Arts Administration program, have assisted
Bill Arning in the selection and installation of the work.

Bill Arning is a critic and writer on art for Art in America, Time Out New
York  and The Village Voice.  Upcoming curatorial projects by Arning
include "New York Neither/Nor" for Grand Arts in Kansas City and
"Achieving Failure - Gym Culture 2000" for Thread Waxing Space in New
York.

Sake   April 9 - April 30
Opening Reception: Friday, April 9 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Olives   May 8 - May 29
Opening Reception: Saturday, May 8 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
