Subject: coyote

This morning, I glanced out the window from my office in my house were I've
lived twenty years, but never until now seen a coyote. He (from the
lean-hungry look) tripped up the bank and froze in place, left foot raised
inches. The head cocked side to side and over his bonesharp back, his jaw
locked and shaped like an iron for unwrinkling shirts. In a minute, when
the cat didn't show, the coyote tiptoed off, probably unaware a
morning-keen eye had spoiled his invisibility.
