Hi Barry- 
I work on campus as a graphic/multimedia artist. I am patiently waiting
for a Master in Art program to evolve here. During my lunch hour I just
found reference to Joseph Campbell's Reflections on the Art of Living: A
Joseph Campbell  Companion. It suggests art is more about identity and
memory than aesthetics. Maybe it is the memory of the artist frozen on
the canvas. "Art is frozen Zen" according to Buddha! and how about
this:"Art is made in the gap between where one is and where one wants to
be' Elizabeth Murray. Maybe it is more spiritual than visual. Take care,
