David - - apart from Burroughs, try Alexander Trocchi - 'Cain's Book' is the novel to go for. He hung out with the Situationists for a while, plus Burroughs. Leonard Cohen smuggled him over the US/Canadian border when he was sentenced for flogging drugs to a minor. He writes about writing and heroin, and was working in the 50s and 60s, in Paris and New York. Great stuff. Cheers, Fiona --- from list avant-garde-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
