Cound you explain this too ;-)

Clans, the McDougals etc, the island, one island ?, is such an extremly
old country.....

But I always thought that there is also a magnitude of traditions, things
that are long forgotten on the continent, the way people live(d),
squatters etc. Blablabla ?
