My sentiments exactly.

But why is everyone going down this 50-year-old channel? Why stick with a
model that is completely exposed as corrupt? -dag

The relationship between artist and fan has been intermediated for so long
by promotional outlets and marketing institutions that there's a disconnect.

Artists are challenged to move to the center of the changes that are
transforming the industry, not just as would-be superstars but as active
participants. In this business, a very limited number of artists are very
successful, and a great majority are not successful at all. It's so
entrenched it's almost impossible to see.

Changes in technology and the law have disrupted a corporate structure that
had long expected artists to be led by others. The internet made us
question things and sit back and see our own value.

I do not think it is any benefit for artists or fans to have all the new,
wide distribution channels controlled by those who have controlled the old,
narrower ones. Artists have to know how to empower themselves. If they can
find a way to get around the power structure, that's great.
