I haven't checked out Leiris much but from the little I see, there is
something about a "cry" in his work that seems to link up with my tracks
regarding noise (Kristeva's semiotic, Lacan's object little a, Blanchot's
cadaverous images, Bataille's laughter, crying, and fucking) -- more or
less everything that interrupts the Hegelian work of the negative as an
assimilation of noise into the realm of positive, legible meaning. Scratch
(////), Scratch (/////). So, an animalistic, primative 'expression'?
