I am always dressed in formal attire and my make up is quite perfect, as usual. I do not have to do anythng special to accomodate and impress this guest. I cannot see how it could be possible to embarrass you. If anything, you should feel embarrassed by your hypocrisy. This is just Jean Dragon, for goodness sakes. Am I expected to chastise myself and become dear little Emma merely for the presence of a Frenchman? I don't think so. Am I to be very polite in the presence of what I consider to be contemptible just to impress a Frenchman? I will not do that, Ariosto. There is no reason to do that.
