Subject: RE: Inner experience vs. Descartes

As far as "inner" mind in Descartes, it's not instantly familiar: give me
some time, Einar, or some more pointers...

As far as David's reply, I think there's both an alternative (something
irrational in human experience, something impossible, a fullness of life
that doesn't fit back into a certain kind of nice categorizing and yet
isn't empty or meaningless for that) and some other arguments (e.g.: (a)
experiential/mystical; (b) literary; (c) anthropological/ ethnological).
It seems like you're summoning a vast arsenal of tools to dismiss
something; even the effort you are making suggests that there is more than
a mere corpse to dual with. (Or maybe we should think about what great
effort it has taken us as a society to rid ourselves of corpses.) I don't
really know what level you're facing this at. What writing of Bataille's
are you reading?

Marcus
