I feel I must clarify, lest anyone go scurrying about for 
citations.  Baudrillard himself (the man, the myth, the Frenchman) doesn't 
refer to the academy as a word-producing industry.  This is my 
"interpretation" of his writing on the academic and philosophical 
enterprises, a (hopefully) "logical" continuation of his "thought."

I keep "hoping" for logic.  For logos--the word, the law, the light.  Go 
figure.
