Hi and thanks for the comments along the Barthes / Baud. line. I agree that most 
'political' points about Barthes were made by people who wanted him to be 
political for their own reasons. Text as pure event I think is a crucial idea in 
his work (maybe from 'From Work to Text' on..) But the major comparison level is 
the idea of the text as something which takes us over as much as we change it 
through our ideas. The response of the reader is not only the reader it is also 
the response of the text... (maybe)
Also I was thinking of a form thing - the lay out, fragmentary, almost 
diary-like form of RB by RB / Cool Memories seem very very similar. Why do 
extremely erudite philosophers feel the bneed to turn 'confessional' almost in 
this way? Does anyone see a distinction between Baud. as philosopher and as 
writer (in a Barthesian sense). Must go as I'm just about to start "The Gulf War 
did not Take Place' collection of 3 essays.
