I think that's a great question. Ontology and metaphysics are  two terms
that have never made sense to me. Every explanation seems metaphysical, and
ontology is so broad as to be meaningless.

My own decidedly barbaric solution has been to think of ontology as "what
there is," and metaphysics as "how it works."

I will not be responsible for what your professor might do to you if you
offer him/her these definitions.
