Levy explores ther virtuality (in a philosophical sense) of the text,
social structures, economies, and identities that is instantiated by
network technologies. It's a pretty quick read.

Levy's self-described work of utopian speculation. It's quite delirious
in many ways. He describes the coming of a knowledge space in which, in
gnostic fashion, we gain angelic bodies that take part in an emergent
collective intelligence of network technology. It's not the web he's
talking about, but a technological noosphere in line with the
de Chardin-McLuhan-Baudrillard-Kroker genealogy.
