Hey all,
i'm just testing out the list to see if i'm a part of it yet and if i can
recieve emails from everyone.
i'm very new to baudrillard and his thinking. i stumbled upon him in a
class this semester studying popular culture and his ideas concerning the
hyperreal and especially his disneyland metaphors are great! i just ordered
his simuclara and simulation and am hopefully getting america for christmas.
also, downloaded about 15 articles last nite, so i'm getting ready to dig in
now the semester is over.
about me...i'm a 22y/o senior at the university of north dakota with an
english major. considering a minor in philosophy, but it depends if i want
any more school after may (and if i dont go to film school). i'm into
literature, music (mostly indie stuff, but have an avid passion for rap),
and computers.
i've always had a problem with keeping my lit theories straight...but i've
done some recent reading on postmodernism, most recently focaoult and his
"what is an author". i'm also interested in reading hegel and would like a
clear understanding of marx and socialism.
lastly, anyone heard of francis schaeffer? i picked up a little book by
him at a thrift store...it's a christian writer and his outlook on
philosophy, ie nature vs human, reason and wisdom, etc. pretty neat little
book.
hope this list is current and all you thinkers out there are ready to
share some knowledge.
  take it easy.

clay danielson
