Subject: How to unsubscr*be from the bhaskar list etc.

Hi Carrol, you can get the past messages by mail sending the
commands

get bhaskar current
get bhaskar recent

to majordomo-AT-jefferson.village.Virginia.EDU.

Here is an information message with other information:

Here is an occasional reminder of the commands how to unsubscr*be, how
to subscr*be, how to use the "who" command which shows who is
subscr*bed, and how to access the archives by mail, www, and ftp.

To unsubscribe from the bhaskar list, send the one-line message:

   unsubscribe bhaskar

to:

   majordomo-AT-jefferson.village.virginia.EDU

The "unsubscribe" command must be in the body of the message, the
subject header of the message is irrelevant. Unsubscriptions are
automatic unless you send your request from a different e-mail address
than the one at which you are subscribed. Those requests will first
go to the "list-owner" for approval, which may take a day or two.

To subscribe to the bhaskar-list, send the one-line message:

   subscribe bhaskar

to:

   majordomo-AT-jefferson.village.virginia.EDU

Again, the subscribe command must be in the body of the message, the
subject header of the message is irrelevant. Subscription is also
automatic unless you use an address that the majordomo software does
not recognize, or you are already subscribed at another address, in
which case the request will be forwarded to the "list-owner" for
approval. Due to the low volume of the list, a digest option for the
bhaskar list is not provided at the present time.

To get a list of all subscribers, send a message consisting of the line

   who bhaskar

to:

   majordomo-AT-jefferson.village.virginia.EDU

To get a list of the archive files, send a message consisting of the line:

   index bhaskar

to:

   majordomo-AT-jefferson.village.virginia.EDU

You will get a list of files which can be retrieved by the "get"
command. One of the files is called "rts"; it contains the
present installment of the readings of the Realist Theory of Science.
Here is the example of a get command which retrieves a
an archive file which has messages sent out before July 26,
1996, 2:49 GMT (you will receive a mail message of about 360
Kilobytes long):

   get bhaskar bhaskar_1996/96-07-26.024

Again, this command must be sent in a mail message to:

   majordomo-AT-jefferson.village.virginia.EDU

To receive a survey of all majordomo commands,
send a message consisting of the line

   help

to that same address.

The www-URL of the spoon collective is

   http://jefferson.village.virginia.EDU/~spoons

To retrieve the archives of the bhaskar list by ftp, you have to

   ftp jefferson.village.virginia.EDU

log in as user "anonymous", and then

   cd pub/pubs/listservs/spoons/bhaskar.archive

The latest messages are in a file named "current" in this directory.
Somewhat older messages are in a file named "recent" in the same
directory. To get the archive files proper, you have to cd to one of
the annual directories, say bhaskar_1996 . The names of the archive
files themselves are made up by the date of the *last* message they
contain. There are also index files available.
